It has taken me awhile to write this review because being a digital nomad over the past 2 years I have never felt the need to leave a 1 star review, but here I felt the need after sometime thinking about it. First off the people who work here are nice and the Hotel is clean and nice. But I have been traveling for over 2 years straight and have a list of questions I ask all the places I might be staying. I do research that spans days if not weeks before I choose a place to settle for the duration that I am in one spot. These questions were asked and I feel that they were not answered Honestly. I also feel the Website is misleading with information that they provide. I stayed there from Aug. 2023 till Sept. 2023(1 Month) was going to stay 2 because our Visa was not over until Oct. 2023 but left because our stay here was misguided. To begin with my travel mate and myself need fast internet to do our jobs, which deals with multi billion dollar companies and government agencies. They told us and the website says 200 Mps, which you only get if you are next to the modem downstairs in the office. Dropped calls and or audio only because the internet is Too slow in the rooms is Not acceptable. The co work place is right next to the lobby and can get really noisy as it did when the Hotel was full the one week it was with the marathon in town, so I felt that this was dishonest about how well the internet worked. We stayed 1 month and there were problems a few times a week. Next the website and we were told that there would be Hot water in our room in the shower, it says so on the website and we were told. We had hot water 5 days out of 30, only because people showed up and filled the hotel for the marathon. Before and after the marathon no hot water, just excuses, and the water was really cold. TV in room did not work in our room. All the stars they say you can see at night, There was none. The military bases and the light pollution at night you could not see any worth writing home about. Communication was horrible. We would talk to everyone, everyday before we went off on walks. One day we walked all the way to Lah Market, 5 miles one way. We get there and the whole place is closed because of holiday. No one at the Hotel told us even though we talked to them before we went and where we were going. This happened twice. I have been a Buddhist practitioner for 25 years and was told that I could go eat with His Holiness the Dali Lama one morning. I got up and waited and no one ever came to get me even though they said they would. The laundry service was expensive and we stayed in India for 6 months. We planned on a trip to Pangong Tao on same day the owner was going and did not even offer a ride or help to get us there, but we had our driver from the airport take us and it went fantastic(even got invited to his house to spend some time) so no loss there. I just mention that because I read a lot about how everyone felt they were treated as family, yet we did not see this kind of treatment. Again nice group of people, but the experience did not live up to what we were told, what the reviews say and what the website tells you. Also we went without power everyday for 8 days straight, for 6 - 8 hours a day because power lines were being replaced(so not their Fault) but they say and told us that that have a generator, it was never turned on(We were told that it is broke, then no gas, then we got gas but it just is not working), so I felt being lied to with a few things was a bit much. It was hard to just give them 1 star, but deserved. I have been traveling over two years, take my time to give all the places we visit good reviews to help out, but I could not do it in this instance. If you are going for a day or two, you should be OK, but any Digital nomads, Stay away. Long term here is not the best option and you would probable find better accommodations somewhere else for long term stays. I hope this review Helps them become a better place to stay, they have potential and I hope they get there.

Worst Experience in my 3 Years of Full time Travel

I've never given a one-star review until now, but it's absolutely warranted, and I feel compelled to warn fellow digital nomads. Having been a full-time traveling digital nomad for over three years, I'm meticulous about my accommodations, especially when it comes to work-related needs. Ratna Hotel's website prominently touts itself as a paradise for digital nomads, promising a reliable 200 MBPS 5G Fiber Internet, round-the-clock hot water, and even complimentary airport transfers right on their homepage. Despite being one of the priciest places we've booked in all of Asia, I was willing to invest in a guaranteed professional work environment. However, the reality was nothing short of a nightmare. The internet was shockingly unreliable, constant power outages, and a stingy policy regarding generator usage made my work calls a constant struggle. Hot showers? Forget about it. We had to make do with bucket baths using solar-heated water. And as for those promised airport transfers, they were simply nonexistent. To top it all off, they had the audacity to charge us a whopping $20 for a small load of laundry, a price tag even higher than what you'd find in New York City. I'm deeply disappointed by their dishonesty and lack of transparency. My fellow digital nomads, be cautious when considering Ratna Hotel for your stay.

It was an amazing hotel. I recommend you to stay without any second thought. The staff members were so friendly and co-operative. A full 5 star hotel, with all the facilities needed for a comfortable stay. It’s a type of stay we always need i.e away from the main market hustle but also can reach there in just 5-10 min.

It was an excellent experience for all of us. We have never been in Ladakh and went for His Holiness’ teaching. Tashi has been the most kind, not just showing us to the way to teaching park but also to numerous temples, seeing rituals, to his sisters place, also introducing us local his friends etc. It was more like a family friend experience rather than staying in a hotel. We will definitely go back to Ladakh and stay again!
